Is Jolla compatible or going to be compatible with RCS which seems to be promising. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_Communication_Services

Let's get the basic communication systems working reliably first, eh?

I'm not saying the contrary... just asking. Jolla has a very innovative approach (wayland, QT5,...) and as people looking for MMS, 4G services, whatsapp alternatives...RCS seems to be the coming messaging standard.

as a new standard and available in many networks, it's a upcoming must-have

License Proprietary software

Truly a recipe for failure and disaster.

What exactly is promising?

It seems a messaging standard sponsored by the same groups that made us pay exhorbitant fees for SMS and MMS.

Yes please, it would be great to be able to use wifi calling and messaging since more provides offer such RCS features: https://blog.telefonica.de/2016/02/o2-messagecall-app-jetzt-mit-neuen-funktionen/ (although it seems to be only available via a special app and not the phone software itself right now)
