Since last upgrade my jolla reboots about 10-20 times per day. It often happens when I have used the phone a bit, puts it in my pocket, then picks it up somewhere else like on the train or in a car and just turn on the screen again. But sometimes it just happens randomly when using the phone. Have not seen any specific action that is more likely than other to trigger it, it happens when launching apps or switching between apps or just tapping a button on the screen, in native or Android apps. No obvious pattern at all. Can happen with wifi and/or mobile internet enabled or disabled. Quite often I pick up the phone from my pocket and turn on the screen only to see the PIN screen, but more often what happens is I see the phone reboot with the Jolla logo visible for a few seconds first before asking for the PIN.

Sometimes, maybe once per day on average after rebooting the phone ends up in a reboot-loop and just reboots itself. It seems to do this forever, until I open the case. Just opening up the bottom left corner of the other half always seem to work, it instantly stops rebooting and goes on to the PIN screen.

One odd things is that I have never seen any reboots at all when not having the other half on. I assumed that this was related to NFC, because other than that the default other half seems like just plastic, so I peeled off the NFC tag a few days ago. Unfortunately that didn't change anything. It still works better without the case, and when it ends up in a reboot loop it still helps to loosen the other half slightly. It is almost as if there is something the case is physically pressing against that can make the phone reboot, but I can't figure out why, or why it never happened before the Sailfish update.

Don't know if it could somehow be related to SIM-card issue others have had (https://together.jolla.com/question/1358/sim-card-connection-to-phone-lost-easily/). I do have a home-cut SIM. In fact when I first started using my Jolla it took some effort and many, many attempts before I managed to get it to detect the SIM at all, so there definitely is a possibility that it loses connection briefly. But I never saw the error messages others get about SIM card being lost, and I don't think the phone should reboot even if it did lose the SIM.

No, it's not that one. My phone reboots, it does not shut down. Never had that problem. I read all of that thread, and tried the remove-battery trick. In fact you will find a comment from me from a few weeks ago in that thread, but there is no indication that it would be related. As I mentioned my phone happily reboots itself even when the network is disabled (even in airplane mode).

Here is my old answer from the shutdown thread, from before I had done this much investigation, and when I still thought it might be related to the shutdowns others see: https://together.jolla.com/question/7144/jolla-randomly-shuts-down/?answer=24827#post-id-24827

I really think it is the same issue - your phone randomly reboots, presenting you with PIN enter dialogue. After a while or immediately it reboots again - that is what the thread pointed is about. Anyway if you insist I will reopen it, although my feeling is that even there might be subtle nuances in symptoms the cause is common and it is better to keep the discussion in a single thread.

"Randomly turns black and completely shuts down", and further down "bricks the phone. Only solution is to take out the battery" doesn't sound at all like my reboots. I just get the Jolla logo and after not that many seconds the phone is back on (after inputting PIN) (except for the rarer reboot-loops). It would be nice if my problem is somehow related, because it seems like a fix is coming, but I find it unlikely.

I have discussed on Twitter with Harri Hakulinen it he confirmed Jolla is aware about these reboots/shutdowns and although culprit is not pinpointed, they have several fixes in the pipe coming in next update.
