Now, when almost everybody is quitting whatsapp we need alternative messaging app. Good alternative could be Finnish messaging app called Jongla. Also it's quite funny name: Jongla

XMPP would be nice, but we need XMPP multiuser chat support. After that there would be no need to wonder which app / service to use...

But what comes to Jongla, seems like they are open mind with Jolla / Sailfish, got e-mail answer from them where they said following:

Hi,

Currently Sailfish OS does not provide all features Jongla requires, We are keeping an eye on the matter. Thanks for the feedback.

-Jongla Team

Don't know what those missed features are though.

And why would the world need yet another centralized, closed protocol like Jongla? There are too many of those already. Open, decentralized and private communication is what's needed.

Jongla has private communication

@Robsu are you sure? Is it using a documented protocol for that? Dropbox said it was "secure" too, and well, it wasn't. Even if it is documented, the ability to switch provider without loosing the ability to communicate with your contacts is very important, hence a decentralized system is very important. Or would you find it acceptable if you want to ditch your e-mail provider because they messed up, that you'd lose the ability to e-mail at all?
