Jolla icons patented? [answered]

Hello sailors,

in the last time I see more and more icons with Jolla UI style (mobile operator E-Plus/BASE, supermarket chain LIDL, etc.). I don't think it's coincidence. So the question for our Jolla employees: are the Jolla icons patented?

Any links to these logos? I googled them and none was looking similar to any Jolla style icons...

The BASE icons are for example here: http://www.base.de/ Some of them look quite "Jolla style"....

Well, those kinds of icons are hardly a new idea, as cropas also showed with the Fedora logo.

Also, I don't think trademark-protecting icon shapes fits the Jolla "open ethos" very well...

and I have at least 2 android apps installed that have the same icon container shape as that of the Jolla app icons. So on the launcher, i have arranged them after other obviously-android-looking app icons in order to distinguish them from native Jolla apps.

If by "patented" you mean "registered trademark": Why not? Even single colors have been successfully registered.

However, it will be difficult to register the outer shape of the icon as a container for any content.

But some "fruit" company succeeded in getting a patent on a rectangle with rounded corners. ;)
