It would be nice to have an other-half projector so you can, for example, show your photos to people or make a presentation without the need to plug any cable. There are some tiny projectors such as the Pico, so it would not mean having a big other-half.

This is impossible due to the speed limitations of i2c (400kbit/sec). The very low quality QVGA (320x240pixels) would need 44'000kbit/sec at 24 frames per second with 24bits color depth.
It is not even fast enough for static images with decent quality.
You don't need to limit yourself to i2c for communications! Streaming video over wlan is an everyday activity.

We live in a world where even power can be transferred wirelessly, why do communication between Jolla and TOH have to be wired? Even the stock TOHs use NFC to identify themselves, not i2c. The TOH only needs to be wired to the phone for power, not for data. Bluetooth or WLAN would probably both work.

A faster electric connection between the other half and the phone would be nice, but I can't tell what would be best. Wireless is suffering from higher power consumption and sometimes crowded frequency spectrum..

USB could be a choice in future versions for the other half, but I don't know if there is a suitable connector for the other half (Micro-USB probably needs to much depth in the phone for usage in the other half)

Very useful as an TOH! Perfect to swap in when you want to use the projector, but it doesn't have to be on all the time. And it can change your settings to presentation-suitable (turn off screen-blank, maybe start a clock, etc) when you put on the projector TOH.

chemist ( 2014-02-24 11:58:45 +0300 )editI never understood that way of thinking. Streaming video over wlan is old news, why should we forget about that just because we also have the i2c bridge? Use the i2c for setting up communication only, then move bulk data over wlan.
