Hi, 1.0.3.8 update broke the app settings path.

Can please someone write a step by step tutorial to the copy of the settings to the new location? My most affected apps are tidings and webcat.

I'm confident with bash shell but this is my "production" phone and I don't have the option to make backups atm as windows xp and mageia don't recognize the phone, nor I have sdcard.

this is a wiki post so that anyone can contribute it.

thank you

You can find instructions (and also a link to an app to help you with the settings migration) here: https://together.jolla.com/question/21842/howto-restore-lost-3rd-party-apps-settings-after-update-1038/

thank you, I read that topic in the past, but for me is not enough:

  • how do I access the shell? Enable developer mode and..
  • how ca I type such a long string on the phone?
  • what happens to the folders alredy there (tidings for example I guess already recreated the new folder assuming a ne installation)? I would like to delete them

thank you

Did you try the utility that was linked in the answer by @thp? I think it's supposed to do the migration automatically without having to use command line. (Download the .rpm from the link, navigate to the Downloads folder with File Browser [from Jolla Store], select the .rpm, select "Install" from pulley menu.)

To do it in command line, enable developer mode, and a Terminal app will appear in your launcher (at next reboot, I think). To do it via ssh connection from computer, you must also allow remote connection from Settings > System > Developer mode and set a password. Then you can connect from computer and type (or copy-paste) the commands more easily.

Sorry, I don't have time to give more detailed instructions now. On ssh connections, these may help: https://together.jolla.com/question/1919/howto-connecting-to-jolla-via-ssh-over-usb/https://together.jolla.com/question/28095/howto-ssh-jolla-on-windows-over-wlan/

Anyway, this question is actually duplicate of the question I linked in my answer, and I think it would be better to ask for more detail there and close this one.

I appreciate your help. I close the question.

I downloaded the RPM but as it was suggested to do a backup before running it I didn't execut on the phone.
