I have had a couple of Android apps installed and they were working fine. But recently, all the installed android apps in my Jolla phone stopped working.

When an Android app is launched, it open an app cover with 'Loading..' and then the cover closes, without opening the app.

I have tried the following without any positive result:

  • restarting the phone, (also tried removing the battery and reinserting)
  • uninstalled Android-support from Jolla store and reinstalled
  • installed KillDroid app from Jolla store and tried to stop Android service. which returned: "Error stopping Android service"

Any suggestions other than device reset?

I think that the apps you installed depends on google services or it's not supported. I haven't seen any info on debugging Jolla andriod support, not even a plugin for andriod SDK. Try the apps from an other source, for me google play (using an apk downloader with no google services installed) and aptoide have worked best.

those apps were working fine for about a month. they stopped working just now.

now i can't even launch yandex or google play.

hope Jolla gives more information on Android support. they keep saying “you can run all your favorite Android apps”. i wonder if they are being purposefully misleading :/ obviously they dont work like native apps. what is the point in having a messaging app that doesn't alert you when a message arrives.

I thought it was newly installed apps, i guess i misunderstood. But still android support should have better debugging or if it has then it should be explained. I remember reading about an Myriad plugin for for android SDK. http://www.myriadgroup.com/Myriad/Device-Manufacturers/Android-solutions/~/media/D42B513FB5114FF2B4CA13A2D8CE313E.ashx

I have had the same problem with some android apps (BeyondPod, TuneIn) and the only solution I found is to remove and reinstalll them again.

Try (re)installing Google play store. Then install the Android apps again. And install the google updates normally. It helped me with some problems.

I just had a similar problem when I wanted to reset the android layer (and remove google play etc.). After cleaning up, rebooting and re-installing android support I wasn't able to install any .apk (e.g. the F-Droid Store). The solution in my case was to install the Yandex Store. So is this some kind of bug, or is there still some kind of dependency between the android-support and yandex-store?

All for a sudden, all installed android apps were either unable to start or unable to connect to the outside world if able to start. I tried with uninstalling alien-dalvik (android compatibility) and reinstalling it, rebooting or not rebooting in between and so on. What did fix it in the end was to uninstall all android apps and remove the compatibility layer, reboot and install everything again - it did not take as long as it sounds and everything was fine again (I even had the impression that android apps did crash less often). If your phone tells you that you have an upgrade ready afterwards, go to CLI and install them by hand - I had like 4/5 packages to install 2 of were previously held back.

uninstalled everything, removed compatibility layer (uninstalled Android support from Jolla store; yandex icon disappeared), rebooted. enabled Android support from Jolla store (yandex icon appeared), launched yandex. failed to open.

I have no further ideas, join #jollamobile on freenode IRC and ask for advice
