My Jolla phone is stuck shut down. It doesn't respond to pressing the starting button. I've tried charging it with multiple chargers so power shouldn't be the problem. Also while the phone had power it flashed between the Jolla starting screen (with only text Jolla in the middle) and black screen while the little light flashed red. This flashing happened in about 10 second cycles until I ran out of battery.

Have you tried taking out the battery, waiting about 10 seconds and putting it in again? This worked for me in a similar situation (not booting, but flash red at a high frequency).

Yes follow the instructions below and select the btrfs option. It doesn't take long and once you have been through this procedure you will feel a lot more confident on the device and the ability to sort such issues without return to manufacturer.

My sis was stuck where you are a week ago or so, if you can get to the recovery console via telnet you can try to recover your btrfs - doing that does not delete any data! How to do that you will find here https://together.jolla.com/question/22079/howto-all-pc-users-recover-or-reset-a-device-that-is-stuck/?answer=22127#post-id-22127

Putting your device in recovery-mode seems to make it able to recharge too.
