Hey Sailors,

my Jolla was lying on the table and the sun was shining on the display. There I saw very nice fingerprints from my last unlocking. Then i thougt to myself, that if someone is looking at me several times, while I'm performing the unlocking sequence and then take a look on the display, he might guess my unlock code.

Then I remembered, when I was able to make a guided tour in a well secured datacenter. Our guide had to unlock the doors every time we changed an area of the datacenter. The display of the touchsreen looked like an normal display, but he let us take a look on the screen, an every time he was refreshing the display, the numeric keyboard had a different layout like this:

7 8 9           3 5 7           1 9 6
4 5 6           1 2 4           5 0 3
1 2 3           6 9 0           8 4 2
  0               8               7

I think, this would be a nice optional security feature.

I'd rather have this as an option in the lock-code section than default, I remember dialpad numbers by gesture not by number.

Interesting, i checked with my phone and its possible to recognize something right after unlocking. But usually after you unlock the phone you continue to tap working with apps, that's the difference compare to door lock. Anyway, a agree with @chemist - if only in settings, not by default.

we have mazelock and the shifting numbers but both only as patches.

should be part of os.

The problems with these changing schemes is that you have to look at the keyboard and search for the next number to press (not to say you have to actually remember the code you are typing)

This makes the whole thing so slow that someone who is shoulder surfing you will find out your PIN.

I pretty much type the lock code (or any PIN for ATM etc.) on "automatic", using muscle memory and to be frank I cannot even remember the numbers easily, they just come out the way I type them. Just like typing on the keyboard, you do not need to look at it, just type.

only harbour and official jolla releases count as "fixed" or "released"

Oh please, if every feature someone can think of is supposed to be 'officially released', you'll never close any request, no matter how well the community implementation works. You might want to ask yourself which other operating system implements all this stuff, or will ever implement it. Android and iOS sure don't and won't. As if a Harbour release means anything except it being slightly easier to install anyway.

I also don't see the original poster ask for this to be officially implemented anywhere. Patchmanager is precisely a nice optional feature.

@nthn and that is the point, as long as harbour is not ready to take these things, it is an open bug, it does not need to be an official release by Jolla, but at least be able to be downloaded from harbour (that includes QA and stuff that openrepos lacks massively)
