bug messaging fallout - wrong number assigned to conversation

I received a msg with "hey I got a new number", I linked it to the contact and deleted the old number from it - I just checked for the number within Messaging (was looking if deleting the old number rendered the texts unlinked) and now older messages and the "I got a new number" message have the same sending number - the old one, which is not linked to the contact any more.
New messages have the old number too. I need to check with my friend where the message was received...
Update: I have confirmation that I texted to the right number... a new message with the new number was received but shows the old number.
Update2: I linked the old number again, closed everything - started and tada the conversation has the new number but well again on all messages! Now I was curious and deleted (not unlink, delete!) the old number again. Messaging crashed so I killall jolla-messages and started it again... now I have two conversations, one old one new. sigh
