Android apps and NFC [answered]
I have a simple question: Does Android apps have access to the NFC chip?
If not, is support for this planned? If not, why not?

The NFC transimtter/receiver is very low power in the Jolla, this is a hardware limitation I believe so will not change with upcoming releases. It will therefore it will only function for the "other half" chip that sits directly over it. It is also only activated when the cover is changed, via a pin in the cover. To get full NFC functiosn we will need a new Jolla model or an Other Half cover with this function connected by the I2C connection.
This is a shame as it would be useful to play with NFC tags for ambience changes etc.
An example of something really useful using NFC. Luckily I have my Nexus 7 tablet to read my travel card balance with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.salomaa.travelcardreader.free
