The idea of this poll is very simple: Does DELETE functionality in messages/emails work as it should?

YES! Delete functionality is fine as it is!
I've been using Jolla only for a week now, so I'm quite new. But I have to admit that I got used to delete function quite soon, and like how it is. On top of it, it looks that this behaviour is identical (and so consistent) with other functionality in SailfishOS.

Only problem I encounter from time to time (but failed to intentionally reproduce it (so far), is: when long-pressing an item, the menu appears underneath my thumb (the item itself scrolling upwards). Sometimes my thumb is right over the "delete" option then, having it highlighted and actually starting the delete process. If you are not prepared for this to happen at all, remorse time is a little short.

Delete functionality should be INVERTED:
I would like inverted version. First: I don't like that delete is done "automatically" -> did not notice that delete started so I lost few messages (quite rare thing in general). Second and most important point: I hate waiting 5 seconds when I am deleting emails. Which I am doing constantly. "Tap to Delete" would be much better option! Let's see if I am the only one thinking this way...

The item will be deleted in 5 seconds but the whole point of this approach to make the workflow as unobstructed as possible. Once you've set an item up for a deletion you may proceed to doing whatever you were doing (delete others, check out other items or close the application) while the countdown progresses to zero instead of having to respond to confirmation popups like other OSes do.

For example we use this in Tweetian for delete/unfollow/follow etc.. Tap to OK would just be very annoying. Most the time you want to delete and default should be OK.
You better learn how to use your Jolla.Ofcourse Jolla should make this more clear how it works. But INVERSE this now would make many people very angry including myself.

Actually the whole idea with remorse would be just plain pointless with your solution. SInce what you actually is asking for is to go back to a ok/cancel dialog :/ IMHO...

You missed the long tap option, but the idea is there anyway.
gabriel ( 2014-03-12 19:43:44 +0300 )editI will not add a third option, as you clearly say that there will be only two, but I'll mention here: The delete functionality could be kept as it is, except a "confirm" gesture would be added. It was suggested in an answer to https://together.jolla.com/question/3244/why-not-make-remorse-timer-and-related-actions-configurable-in-settings/.
That would allow you to dismiss the remorse timer, or confirm the delete, without having to wait, while keeping the functionality otherwise as it is (as changing it would surely create confusion).
Another point worth mentioning is that you don't need to wait until the timer is finished, but you can move on and the deletion will take place in the background, if you didn't tap to cancel. But that doesn't work very well for me either – it feels that I need to wait for the timer to finish and see the messages disappear before doing anything else.

Me brains are wired wrongly... @ssahla (Mar 12 '14) - Remorse timer is not issue for me. I just like to confirm my photo, message, etc. deletion. But maybe I will write feature request so those few who need it could vote for it. Like: "As a user I would like to use inverted Delete functionality -> TAP to DELETE". This could be added to as settings option somewhere.
