Why (sometimes) I can't change avatar/contact image of a contact?

I reopened this question as suggested by comment.

There is a problem with changing the image/avatar of a contact.

If you try to change the avatar/image of a contact, edit/crop it and then swipe left to "Accept" the changes, sometimes nothing happens. The image of the contact stays empty. After some "research" (thanks to the answer below), I can confirm that this happens for all choosen images without correct suffix (in my case no suffix at all).

After renaming the file (i.e. with correct suffix - e.g. ".jpg") the contact image can be assigned.

But as you can see the image in Gallery and the image is presented as valid choice, the question is, why is the contact image only assigned with a correct suffix?

I noticed this happened when the image I tried to select didn't have a file extension (like .jpg). So, you should have a look if the image you want has a file extension and if not, add it.

This definitely seems like a bug, though, as you can see the image in the selection screen.

I revised my question and reopened it as bug as you suggested. This answer now does not really answer the question anymore, but it should be left here anyway I'd say. Thanks again.

Similar problem, but created differently. My files do have proper file suffix.

When I select an image from within contacts, I can pick it, but then Jolla phone sends me to start screen. No contact image added. Rinse and rewash.

I have some pictures on SD Card, and some on the device itself. Cross-checked, does not seem to affect the topic.

Now, going deeper, it looks like I'm unable to add photos that are rotated. FileBrowser says "Rotate 90 CW" for images that fail, no rotation for the ones that are added. Tried 2-3 sample images, reproducable.

Using Sailfish OS 2.0.4.14 (Fiskarsinjoki). Asked the German community at jollausers.de for confirmation of behaviour.

Any ideas?
