I have Zimbra mail server (version 806) and I connect to it via Exchange/ActiveSync. Whenever I try to download an attachment the download will finish but when I try to open the file it ends up opening empty txt file "/home/nemo/Do....textplain.txt".

With 1.0.4.20 I am able to forward e-mail attachments. And actually if I do that and choose "Download and send" the download of attachments will work and I am later on able to open the attachments also in the original e-mail.

Could the problem be in the way GetAttachment vs. ItemOperation fetch commands are implemented in Jolla?

EDIT: Just wanted to update that I am still having this problem with 1.1.1.27 and Zimbra 8.5.1. Any ideas how could I help with debugging? Could be also a server problem, but still help would be great how to check that as well.

EDIT2: Still problem with 1.1.7.24. Jolla e-mail is now the only e-mail client that doesn't work with Zimbra, now also Windows Mail is working properly (it didn't work earlier either), so I guess this is not a server side problem.

EDIT 9.3.2017: Attachement still can't be downloaded with 2.0.5.6. The "forwarding"-trick described above is also not working anymore. Any body knows how to debug?

It seems the problem is also dependent on the Zimbra server. I have two accounts each on different Zimbra server. One of them works as expected (i.e. the supported filetypes get downloaded and opened), the other behaves exactly as described in the question.

Humm, does this happen for attachments other than .txt ? Because there are problems with txt attachments in the documents app, exactly what you describe, email just calls the app that is registered for that MIME type with a url, no more magic involved, and seems like the file is there since you can FWD it.

Yes, this happens with all attachments (jpg, pdf, etc.). But I think it could be that the MIME type is somehow wrongly interpreted or not at all. This could of course be also bug in Zimbra server...

@soloist - But some app appears all the time ? Can you try with a jpeg image and describe what happens ? Thanks.

@VDVsx Yes, the same "app" appears all the time. I tried it with jpeg image, here is what happens. The download seems to succeed, progress bar shows it being downloaded and the status changes to "Downloaded". The icon does not update into a thumbnail of the image. If I click the attachment an empty "/home/nemo/Do....textplain.txt" opens up. The Documents app seems to open up in the background as well. If I re-access the same e-mail the attachment is now called "1 text/plain" and Failed. (1/2)

@VDVsx - (2/2) if I now choose "Forward" for that e-mail. It asks me about the attachments, if I choose "Download and send", it will download and send. If then again I re-access the same e-mail I can now see the thumbnail image of the attachment and clicking it opens up the Gallery app and shows the image. So seems like the single attachment download is failing, but kind of "download all"-method is working.
