Scrolling in the browser feels really choppy when it's done that way: Put the finger to a non clickable area and slowly slide down or up. The content doesn't slide but jump in tiny steps. This is quite irritating when reading and scrolling slowly at the same time.

Scrolling by poking the screen fast is very smooth. The content scrolling decellerates very nicely.

I could be wrong but I think that this behaviour is due to the new browser engine in 1.0.4.20.

Edit: This is solved with firmware version 1.1.0.38 that contains an updated browser engine. Thanks for the update!

Edit by moosiqpipl on 13.03.2015: Well, the choppy scrolling seems to have returned to us with 1.1.2.16.

Movement is smooth on my phone, at low as well as high speeds. Is the scrolling better on some sites for you? (content-heavy pages vs. lighter ones).

noticed this too, e.g. scrolling this site is choppy which wasnt the case in the previous update

I've noticed that occasionally scrolling in the browser becomes quite jerky, with low framerate. Haven't yet reported it because I'd like to be able to reproduce it better. Perhaps they are related.

vattuvarg: Unfortunatelly this isn' t related to the content of the page. I tried a simple HTML site with only a few words. Restarting the browser and restarting the device did not change anything. Is there anything else I could test or try?

Same here. Not a very smooth scrolling as it was with before update. The gecko 29 fixed lagging redraw problem but probably caused this thing.

Hi, thanks for reporting. I see the same issue. We did major changes to system's graphics rendering in 1.0.4.20 which helped the overall graphics performance, but might have caused this as browser is handling the graphics a bit differently than other apps. We also changed the gecko engine version. Its unclear which caused this regression in performance, but we will do our best to figure this out and get fixed.
