EDIT: no longer happens, fixed in some update along the way...

I'm not sure if this a general problem with the browser or a specific one I had with YouTube today... I'd appreciate any information about other sites that show this issue. Here's what happens:

You can pair a smart TV with any mobile device by entering a numeric code on

http://www.youtube.com/pair

The mobile version of this site will force the numeric keyboard. When entering the pairing code given on my smart TV, I experienced the following problems:

  1. Each number I pressed showed up twice in the input field. The code "1234" would therefore end up as "11223344" - in theory. Unfortunately, Youtube also checks the max input length, so it's not possible to actually enter "11223344" and try to find out if it's only a display problem with the browser and the correct value ("1234") is transmitted. You also cannot type "1"-backpace-"2"-backspace etc.: Each "backspace" will delete two characters, the same as each single digit shows up as two.
  2. I then tried to enter the code as a note in the notes application to copy it over. When clicked "insert" in the browser, only the very first digit was shown. So instead of "1234", I got "1". (You may guess now how it ended: I pressed "insert", then "2" ("122"), then "insert" ("1221"), then "backspace" ("12"), then "3" ("1233"), then "insert" ("12331"), "backspace again ("123"),... lovely.)

I have no idea what the cause of this problem is, as I have yet to find another site with an input field that makes the numeric keyboard show up. Is it the browser? Is it the keyboard? Is it some specific Javasript code on the site that makes the Jolla phone act weird?

So I'd like to ask if

  1. Anyone can reproduce this problem on Youtube?
  2. Other sites with input fields that force the numeric keyboard to appear behave in the same way?

Thanks for reporting this. Yes, I was able to reproduce this.

This looks like YouTube specific issue in browser and shouldn't happen on other sites.

While we are taking about numeric pads there is another issue that depending on the language numeric pad does not have .(dot) or a ,(comma) I made an app and for connection user needs to type in the IP address but some non English keyboards did not have a .(dot) but only a ,(comma) so I had to make additional function checks to convert , to .

@Mariusmssj: there's a thread dedicated to that issue: https://together.jolla.com/question/23911/bug-wrong-delimiter-key-in-numeric-keyboard-swiss/

Edit: read now that it's only related, and not the same issue.

Yes, I know, is necroposting, but problem not fixed. This is not YouTube specific issue. This is SFOS Browser weird work with "oninput" event. Check this simple tests on minimalistic page: http://easy-bricks.com/test/sfos_test.php
