HLS in sailfish

Support for http live streaming would be great. It is used in alot of online tv, and while mostly realized with flash, it can be used by itself too. But thus it is more for developing apps than ready to use. This can be realized by adding more bad plugins to gstreamer. (preferably updating to a newer version in the process)

This would hopefully increase the number of native web tv apps quite alot.

There most probably won't be flash support, see: Adobe flash player support.

Yes, exactly... That's what i meant. And I don't miss it. However it would be neat if we could have hls in gstreamer, giving us access to content that otherwise would require flash.

I just noticed that Sailfish browser can play HLS but I don't understand why my desktop Firefox is asking for Flash player on GNU/Linux (Xubuntu), see https://twitter.com/France2tv/status/698262797852024832

I have already installed gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad and when I installed totem-mozilla package, I can play the m3u8 file in Firefox through Gstreamer/Totem (http://ftvingest-vh.akamaihd.net/i/ingest/streaming-adaptatif_france-dom-tom/2016/S06/J5/HEXA_56be50d717fa7_1455313115-h264-web-,398k,632k,934k,1500k,.mp4.csmil/master.m3u8) but the webpage using this m3u8 file is still asking me Flash player on my desktop Firefox (http://www.france2.fr/emissions/les-victoires-de-la-musique-varietes/videos/jeanne_added_-_look_at_them_-_les_victoires_de_la_musique_2016_12-02-2016_1060664).

For information, it is now possible to play HLS though HTML5 video element with Media Source Extensions : https://github.com/dailymotion/hls.js
