I just added som more more Contacts to Favorites in People app, however at least half of them has no Avatar as those are not from Facebook. Well, you can imagine I ended up with totally empty quares.

I would propose to add a feature... Contacts app should ask you to add some Avatar to Contact when you try to add it to Favorites and it has no photo there. User may accept or continue anyway.

I think a generated avatar based on the name would be better. That's how it is on the N9(50) and how it's done in ownCloud contacts from v.7

well, as it showed up, I have some problem with some contacts only. most of them have "avatar" based on name, but some are really empty totally.

There is a known issue with syncing Google avatars - when the API request limit is reached, the avatar fails to download (and instead an error is returned). In that case, due to a bug, our software currently thinks that an avatar is available, when really it is not - hence the empty square, instead of the name-generated avatar. It's a known issue, which we're working on fixing.

Hello @chris.adams Is there somewhere list of known bugs that are considered as "being fixed"? Would be helpful.

Not a public one, as far as I'm aware - currently we track bugs in an internal bugtracker.

IMHO, that's complicate the interface. Adding the contact to favorites you already see if it has the avatar or not. If not, you already know you have empty square in avatar instead of real picture. Additional questions add nothing to that.

You can add contact to favorites even without opening it and knowing if it has avatar or not at all. Thats for the first. For the second, like me, I added multiple people to favorites at the start, did not check the result. then I found only empty squares. same would apply if you would be adding first contact without avatar to favorites after having there some which all had avatars. you simply have no experience on how would it look. no name, no nothing. EMPTY.

Strange. Not sure about "adding people at the start", but if you add through long tap without opening the contact you you have avatar or contact name if avatar doesn't exist. No empty at all square. At least on 1.0.4. Not sure how it was before, i shifted from n9 on it only after that update.

true, tried some other contacts now and it shows name. however some did not show the name at all. simply only empty square. trying to find out why.

@SergeiStPete, @Rusnak-COBRA: both 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 had names if no avatar was available.

It looks like if you have "blank" record within linked contacts for the person (i.e. only name and nothing more - no phone number, nothing else) when such contact give fully empty square in favourites. May be considered as a bug. Workaround is unlink and delete such record. Have no idea how they appear - i use only google and outlook.com contacts, no local ones.

Create a default avatar for all contacts out of the contacts full-names. Include it in the avatar selector and make it show as default for contacts without other avatars.
