Would it be possible to have the avatar as the background in Messages? It is already used when calling...

The chosen ambience would be used for contacts without avatar.

Update
It would be nice to see avatar backgrounds used in Sailfish 2.0. ...and not just as a patch.

I like this idea but i think this should be optional. :)

This would be truly useful, as it's not so clear who you are writing a message to when go into the message app (usealy, it's the last person that did send a message to you, but I already sent a message to the wrong person due to this lack of visibility.

so it should only apply when replying to a message? in composing messages, it would be confusing when you have multiple recipients.

With more than one recipient the chosen ambience would be a logical choice.

This may cause some issues - messaging is a text application. Readability is key (not so much in th phone app). I'm not sure if all of the avatars I use would make good backgrounds for text... and I certainly want to select avatars specifically for this use case.
