When I connect the phone to my KDE desktop via USB and picking PC mode, a notification appears in KDE which confusingly lists two entries "Mit Dateiverwaltung öffnen" and "Mit Dateimanager öffnen" (similar German expressions for basically "open with file manager"). Turns out, one is for MTP, the other for PTP. PTP does not work at all (errors while browsing in different places) - I blame KDE - no worries. MTP works (on second try) but it takes ages to load each folder view. Not sure whether I should blame KDE or whether it's a Jolla issue.

In total makes me wish for a USB storage device mode (but I know that's problematic because the device would need to completely release usage...) USB developer mode does not seem to offer that either.

Anyway, not satisfactory like that right now.

This is with KDE 4.10.5 "release 1" on openSUSE 12.3.

To add to that; uploading files to the Jolla is using KIO-MTP in KDE is unstable. When transferring files and folders (e.g. uploading music to the phone) the datatransfer gets interrupted and the files never show up on the device, or are there, but incomplete.

I'm using KDE 4.12 and MTP support seems better.

Really don't think this is an sailfish issue, but KDE. I gave up trying to use dolphin and just installed gmtp. On Ubuntu 13.10 and a Jolla phone, at least retrieving data worked very well with it.

I had the same problem. Your kio-mtp is to old, upgrade it to latest git and it should be fast. git clone git://anongit.kde.org/kio-mtpBefore upgrading kio-mtp i could make a sandwich when i browsed any folder before it showed contents of the folder but after upgrading it's as fast as it should be. Since you use openSUSE i would build the src.rpm from 13.1. http://download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/13.1/repo/oss/suse/src/kio_mtp-0.75-2.1.1.src.rpm
