bug: facebook pictures stay on device

The pictures downloaded from facebook stay hidden on the devices, I deactivated facebook's picture-sync as it was constantly nagging me for connection when I left the gallery open. Now I do not see them in the Gallery anymore but they are still there. In my case that is only a few MB but some people might have some 100MB. I did not try what happens when I delete my account, however. As the facebook-pictures are an external source, there is no need to keep anything on the device when the service got deactivated. Leaving contacts in People is ok with me, as long as it is made sure that they do not get duplicated every time someone activates their sync again.

Actually, my opinion is pretty much the opposite. I like the fact that the contacts pictures stay because I like having avatars for my contacts, but I dislike that all those facebook users I interacted with stay on my contacts list. It's currently full of people I don't care about.
I even deleted them from facebook (I've now ~80 contacts on facebook), but they weren't deleted from my phone, and my only choice is to do it manually.

1st I'd rather not have services be able to delete from my jolla! after my last factory reset I just did not import facebook again but well, I do not use facebook chat or whatsapp for my own reason. 2nd, it is all pictures from galleries, I am not complaining about the avatar DB that I also like to keep.

Why not? We're talking about synchronization here. If an entry was created because it was synced from a service, then deletion from that service should mean local deletion. What about calendar? Don't you want deleted entries to be deleted from there either? If you don't want services to delete anything, then that defeats the purpose of syncronization.

Oh, I don't see any facebook picture in my Gallery. Maybe you hit a bug?

@hobarrera well, syncing contacts is different to calendar, I maintain one addressbook and I actually don't want anything be lost on the device ever. As I keep my phone's records as 1st priority. For calendar that is different, the phone is not the host in that case, it is the client. If you work your addressbook the same way that is fine. It is arguably if unlinked contacts should vanish but I'd actually want linked contact-cards to hold info until intentionally deleted or overwritten by new ones. As long as there is no setting for what has priority over what I'd like to have my phone be 1st priority. For gallery, don't know if you can still have your facebook gallery shown on the phone, back then when I opened this question I had a 4th entry in the gallery reading facebook. When I deactivated linked gallery from facebook's account page the gallery entry was gone but the files stayed in some cache directory.
