BUG: 1.1.9.28 E-mail main screen not responding

This has happened a few times for me.
The main screen in the email application (probably after having read a mail and going back, not sure) freezes. That means, I see the accounts with their icon representations, newly arrived mails at the bottom as it should.
But nothing is responsive, only solution is to close email app and relaunch it. BTW, I did check whether it was a zooming issue (like it can be when viewing mails zoomed, then one need to zoom back before getting the back/forward buttons), but it wasn't (zooming isn't applicable on the email main screen).
EDIT: When it happens it is not possible to use the pulley menu either, even if its "lit up".
If this is a duplicate, please merge or delete.
STILL not fixed in 1.1.9.28. Quite reoccurrent bug and the OS has had several major updates since this bug was reported.
I've had this a couple of times too. In my case, simply closing and re-opening e-mail app didn't work. Instead I had to reboot the phone.

Not sure if it's just a general screen issue or related to this, as the edge swipes work, but I couldn't neither scroll/zoom the contents, nor go back. Simply closing and reopening email app solved for me, but still quite annoying.
