I already experienced a couple of times that my Jolla is vibrating shortly without any reason while it was lying in front of me. If I unlocked the screen there was no notification or something that could cause this vibration.

This vibration is really short that I often thought that I just imagined it but I am sure that the Phone was vibrating. :)

This is also happening rarely - about once a week for me.

EDIT: This seems to be fixed. :)

I've also experienced this, and it's not a low battery or a Facebook/Android notification or anything.

I've noticed a short vibration today, without any notification or other obvious reasons. Puzzled, I had a look at the journalctl logs (as described below), and only found some log messages from Mitäkuuluu, one of them containing "groupRemoveUser". After checking Mitäkuuluu I saw that actually a contact had left a group exactly at the time I had noticed the vibration signal. I think this triggered the vibration. Not sure whether this is how it is designed to work by coderus. I'll try to verify next time I notice it. (However, I am not using group chats often, which explains why I didn't notice this issue in the last months.)

Same thing here. I always pulled my Jolla out of pocket, then realizing that there is nothing new. First times I thought I'm loony.

Now I can recognize it, because it vibrates shorter in this malfunction. But even so I think it has to be fixed! Accu loaded often only few hours ago, so low level could not be the reason. I neither have facebook.

Th phone will vibrate shortly whenever there is a Facebook update, though the number of Facebook updates don't show in the notifications screen.

Hm what do you mean exactly with a facebook update?! Do you mean if the phonebook will be updated? I had some vibration today and found besides some Mitakuuluu log messages a lso some logs of facebook update..

I mean whatever Facebook considers an update, i.e. right now things like a message in a group you are following, or a response in a thread where you have spoken.

@00prometheus do you know whether these vibration signals are on purpose? Actually I do not see why the device should give signals that users cannot interpret. The question is whether we should request the respective app developers to remove this or whether it actually is a shortcoming of SailfishOS.

Yes, it is on purpose. If you are looking at the screen exactly when it happens, you see a pop-up saying "Facebook notifocation", or something to that effect.

At a battery level of 10%, the phone vibrates shortly once, and again for each percent decreased. Maybe this is what you are experiencing?

I was confused about this when it began - but it was easy to figure it out by then, because by that time, the remaining 10% drained very quickly :)

Are you using developer mode? If you remember the exact time when it happened and did not reboot in the meantime, you might find information about background activity using journalctl. Otherwise, just wait for it to happen again :)

Maybe there are log messages helping to figure out the origin of the vibrator signal.

Yea I have activated deceloper mode. Could you pls elaborate a little bit how to use journalctl in terminal?!:)

I'm not a pro with these things, too - but if I would notice my phone doing something unexpected, I'd have a look e.g. at the last 100 lines that have been logged using journalctl -n 100 (you need to do this as root user, otherwise there's not much to find). Each entry has an exact time stamp - so you can easily check for log entries written at a given time. Maybe the responsible process writes a message to the logs when initiating the vibration, or there is a warning or error message. Things like these could help to track this issue down.

I can't test this right now, but according to the documentation, something like this should be working: journalctl --since="2012-10-30 18:00:00" --until="2012-10-30 19:00:00"
