On SMS you can activate the delivery reports, but with MMS you can't. I suggest that there would be an option for that in Settings -> Programs -> Messages. Separated settings for SMS and MMS.

Personally, I don't need separate settings – if I want delivery reports for SMS, I want them also for MMS. For me it would be enough that Settings > Apps > Messages > Delivery reports affected MMS also.

But I don't object separate settings, maybe someone wants reports only for SMS or MMS but not both...

Right, added in 1.1.1.26 (even if it doesn't work for me, but that's an other story.)
