If you have a FAT32 formatted MicroSD card in the phone, you cant copy files over 4GB to phone memory.

When trying Windows gives the error "Cannot copy file. File size larger than device limit".

Edit: I meant copying a file to the phone memory while also having an SD card fitted to your phone. Not to the sd card.

For me, the mtp transfer over 4 GB files fails regardless of if there is SD card inserted or not. And I have rebooted the phone between tries. But well, I have had lots of problems with mtp transfers, no matter the file size. I have used sshfs over wlan to get these large files to the phone... Propably not the easiest or best or fastest way but it works.

That is the limitation of the useless FAT32 system, which is not surprising as Microsoft were involved in it. Reformat your SD card with a better file system.

I am talking about copying to phone memory, not SD Card.

P.S. I'd love to use F2FS if I just could: https://together.jolla.com/question/15584/support-f2fs-for-microsd-card/

This could be a limitation of the equally useless MTP as I recall there were 4GB limitations when using USB. Can you try it with WLAN?

IIRC I have transferred files over 4GB fine, before fitting a FAT32 formatted Sd card in the phone.

I dont want to format flash memory with a journaling file system.
