Some apps don't see the working internet connection since update 5. Other android apps work well, SailfishOS apps all work well. All those android apps worked well in update 4 and older.

A few apps that don't work for example:

  • Yandex Store
  • Facebook
  • Burger Kind DE
  • 1Mobile Market
  • Onefootball

Same here. Yandex & FB complains about network connection problem. At least when using 3g. Have not tried wifi.

Start: WiFi only, no mobile data connection. Mobile set to "prefer 3G". Connected to 3G.

  • Disabled WiFi.
  • Enabled Mobile.
    > No IP connection (i.e. I get no IP address allocated, even after waiting for several minutes)
  • Set to 2G only..
    > System connects to 2G.
  • Disabling and enabling Mobile.
    > IP connection established (= IP address allocated)
  • Set to prefer 3G..
    > Jolla stays with 2G
  • Enabled/Disabled flight mode. .
    > Jolla switches to 3G.
  • Disabling and enabling Mobile. .
    > IP connection established (= IP address allocated)

If you're having problems with internet connection when on a wifi network, installing a wifi manager on alien dalvik should enable you to turn on dalvik's wifi connection. At least that was the problem I encountered. Dalvik had wifi connection disabled for some reason.

The problem with mobile data connection might be similar. I haven't had that problem, but using an app like smart quick settings might help (works on the wifi problem as well). It shows you whether the connections are enabled or not.

Thanks for that answer, this might have helped but comes one day too late :) I fixed it yesterday by uninstalling all android apps + alien-dalvik and reinstalling everything.

yeah, would have loved to know this yesterday :-/ I also removed aliendalvik and reinstalled (about a dozen times, until I got the timing just right to turn on airplane mode then start it, so that the UI is in English rather than German…), and I can confirm that this fixed it. Unfortunately I missed a directory in my backup, and lost all my sleep data since the day this bug appeared :-( ah well. Happy now!

Thanks! smart quick settings solved my problems. Just one click (wifi on) and now every android app is connected again.

Running here, and using Quick Settings to toggle wifi didn't help... Any further suggestions?

Also running and the ways I described work for me. Which apps are claming there's no connection?

same for me. workaround: restart aliendalvik service. that helps me for some time

dash72 ( 2014-06-12 18:39:22 +0300 )edit

That does nothing for me, before or after the update.
