Friend of mine has Lumia 820 and he showed me cool application. Phone takes picture of document and convert it to PDF format and save it to cloud. I wonder if someone has done this kind of application for jolla. This would be nice when you need quick copy.

a tool to save a picture as pdf is unneeded... why store a picture in a pdf if there is nothing else in the pdf? But, what you are looking for is a document scanner... a tool to take pictures of documents and crop/enhance-text, right?

Idea here was been able to scan magazine article then there is no xerox machine available. Like local radio club there are new hamradio magazines. New magazines are not allowed to take home. Only few month old magazines can be borrowed .

I believe that someone has packaged imagemagick for sailfishos in openrepos. Using that, it should be fairly straightforward to convert any image to PDF (or to any other image format you want). Imagemagick is a command line tool, so I guess that makes it awkward to use for the average user. I am sure that it wouldn't take much effort to create a quick qml interface with a C++ or Python wrapper that calls imagemagick's 'convert' command to produce a pdf. As for saving it on the cloud, this would just depend on where you actually want to save it.

In my opinion, there is not a whole lot to be gained from converting to PDF... since that's just embedding the image anyway. Jolla's native gallery application provides you with a 'Share' facility that allows you to upload you images to the cloud anyway...

If you can explain what the value of the conversion to PDF adds... then I might consider looking at building something like the wrapper described above. But personally, I think that developing a whole separate application is a waste of effort. What would be nice is for the default Jolla Gallery to offer the option to convert image formats... preferably with to option to keep the original. Then again, I'm not that fussed about formats either... so no pressure from me on adding this sort of functionality to Gallery.

Exactly the scanned image is embedded in the PDF container. However if we consider that a document is usually more than one page long, a PDF container that holds the images together in the right order is more useful rather loose images in phone's gallery?

Uploading to "the cloud" should be really easy once the younite integration is ready... :)

Okay, that wasn't clear in the original post. So you just want the option to add multiple images to a single pdf... presumably with a way of sorting the images first. This can still be done with imagemagick or ghostscript... so it shouldn't be too tricky to do... the hard work will be all the UI development to handle sorting the images etc... If I get some time in the near future, I will try to make a rudimentary app that lets you do the sort and convert, but no promises!

@roboro: Some sort of (manual) snipping, specifying of the paper size (A4, A5 etc.) and even (automatic/manual) contrast enhancement in addition would be nice.

However, for the time being, isn't there a suitable Android app available? (I do not want to fire up a native/Android app discussion here.) Yandex offers some hits on "PDF scan", some of them look promising.
