Added a new whole day event for 15.06.2014 in shared calendar

Whole day events from outlook.com are displayed over 2 days on my jolla. my outlook.com-account is synced with exchange activesync.

It seemed to be fixed in 1.0.5.16, after i deleted and added my account, but now it's back again. First i thought it is a problem with the secondary calendars, but while i was posting this bug i noticed it for the main calendar as well. (see https://together.jolla.com/question/34236/bug-whole-day-event-synced-from-google-shows-on-the-next-day-too/)

calendar-settings: timezone: utc+1 on jolla and outlook.com

shared calendar with one buggy event on April 19. : webcals://sharing.calendar.live.com/calendar/private/1b040c86-bec9-409a-95e8-15ebf4234945/715f7bfc-f514-4700-bc73-7133273622f8/cid-278c0b2b00055cdf/calendar.ics

This bug also appears with the official outlook.com holiday calendars http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/outlook/calendar-holiday-other outlook.com view event settings jolla day 1 jolla day 2

Hi, in order to get it fixed I would recommend that you describe the steps that a dev/tester must do to reproduce the bug. If one can reproduce it, most of the times it is easy to fix.

Something like - Set up outlook account at http://outlook.com - add a calendar with name X and settings Y -- or better: import this .ics (Can you export a calendar?) file as a new calendar on the outlook website - Add jolla sync account for ?Exchange? with your credentials (I don't know account type?) - ...

the screenshot contain all information they need, that's why i added them. account type exchange activesync is also mentioned in the beginning

i set up a new calender and it's shared, url is added above

I am not sure, if it is related. If I create whole day events in owncloud and use syncevolution the event is synced with an 2h offset. The Jolla calendar shows the event from 02:00-23:59 and from 0:00-02:00 on the next day.

I had a similar issue in Google calendar sync previously, but it has been fixed in some update a while back. It set all day events to last from the day 0200 am to next day 0200 am. Now I have this issue you reported with Exchange calendar sync, all day calendar events are all lasting one day more in Jolla calendar than what I have set in Exchange calendar (the end date is a day after what it should be). Google calendar events still work as supposed to.

I'm thinking about leaving jolla!!! Same bug still present in newest 1.1.1.27. I'm pretty sure this bug will even make it into the tablet and I start regretting I bought it. Jolla, is this the way you care for your businnes users?? Just laughing at us, not even caring to invest a few hours to solve this beginners bug?? I'm really upset now, sorry, but after one year the calendar is not only lacking standard functionality but is still acting wrong and therefore unreliable and unusable :-((

This is really annoying! One of the reasons to me to upgrade was the promised fixing of this bug. Nope! This answer is not really a solution, but an answer pointing out some bug details, which may help you for workarounds or not. Looking a bit closer:

  • If you add an "all day" event to Outlook/Exchange lasting n days, Jolla synchronizes it always as an event of n+1 days duration in the Jolla calendar.
  • If you add an "all day" event to Jolla, that lasts exactly 1 day, then you get in Jolla correctly a one-day event, but the synchronization with Exchange leads in Outlook to a simple entry at 0:00 and a duration from 0:00 to 0:00 (yes!).
  • If you add an "all day" event to Jolla lasting n days (n>=2), entering start day as x and end date as y=x+n-1, then you get in Jolla an event of only n-1 days duration, and synchronized to Exchange/Outlook even less, a duration of only n-2 days.

This means, the clue to the bug may be a combination of several factors:

  • Input of "from" and "to" dates of the "all day" events is not consistent: play with different "to"-dates, and observe how the event duration changes for different end dates, in the Jolla calendar as well as in the synchronized Exchange/Outlook.
  • Probably also some issues with timezones (TZ) and daylights savings (DST) not dealing correctly with day change at midnight, as already suggested here and elsewhere

Now, Jolla, please correct this asap! I'm really a bit frustrated, not only because of this since longtime known bug, but because of the poor quality control, having announced it as solved (even knowing this was and opt-in upgrade, but sorry, date programming and testing is really something basic).

maybe it will be changed in the non-beta update, or the care member confused it with that other cal bug they solved.

i just send them a info with the same ticket, that it wasn't solved with 1.1.0.39

nightmare ( 2014-10-26 11:55:19 +0300 )edit

I can confirm. Nothing changed with 1.1.0.39. Syncing my company mail/calendar from an exchange server including whole day events. For example Christmas Day (25.12) is displayed on both 25.12 and 26.12 on the Jolla device.

luchmhor ( 2014-11-05 12:21:01 +0300 )edit

I completely agree. In general my Jolla works fine and I like to use it, but in daily work use this lack of functionality is getting too frustrating since there hasn't been any remarkable change. Whole day events showing on wrong dates, missed calendar event notification does nothing, list of missed calls is unreliable, no ability to handle calendar invites...

This bug just appeard for me with our company's Exchange Server after I re-flashed my Jolla AND our company's exchange server was newly installed. Id had worked without problems before. Unfortunately, since both the Jolla and the Exchange server were newly set up (by coincidence at the same time), I can't say which of the changes caused the problem to appear.

casanunda ( 2015-01-09 13:52:08 +0300 )edit

i have the same error with whole day events on company exchange server showing up in both the actual day/days and then also +1 day after the last actual day. I'm not sure if it's the jolla calender (?) or the exchange sync(?) can't be trusted. Version jolla 1.1.1.27 Version Jolla calendar 0.4.38 jolla Microsoft exchange 0.1.55 server 2011(?)ll

heja Jolla

For me the bug is not fixed. When I add an whole-day-event on my Jolla, it appears as a two-days-event on the server. Deleting and re-adding the account did not help either.

Client: Jolla with 1.1.14.29

Server: Kolab 3.4

Synced with ActiveSync.
