Jolla not receiving SMS
Got 1.0.5.19 and I've had weird behaviour with receiving sms for some time. Reboots usually work so that I receive a bunch that haven't gotten through. Now that doesn't seem to help and I can't seem to receive sms except from some service numbers. I can send then just fine and people get my messages but I can't get theirs. Operator is DNA in Finland. This has already gotten me in trouble in work and in my relationship for "not answering" messages :P
Tried rebooting, setting operator manually but there doesnt seem to be much that I can do messing around in settings with this... What the hell is going on?
I noticed the same problem today and came here to see if there is any help available. I did turn my phone off for a while and after that sms got throuh. About one hour after the reboot I got two sms which were send to me some hours earlier. But there is still at least one sms missing... This is the first time I noticed this problem and I agree this is not so nice to find out... I'm also having the latest update Paarlampi and my operator is Dna. I hope someone can solve the problem!
Jussi ( 2014-04-30 21:54:24 +0200 )editI have seen the same behavior with 1.0.5.19 as well. After a reboot all sms messages are present. Operator is O2 in Germany.
Stephan ( 2014-05-01 10:33:26 +0200 )editDo you happen to have a "regular" sim (just one card) or a "multi sim" with primary and secondary cards?
tkenakka ( 2014-05-09 23:09:27 +0200 )editI have a "regular" sim, one card.
Jussi ( 2014-05-13 19:04:26 +0200 )edit@kribber What about you? For multi-sims the messaged may go to the other card by default.
tkenakka ( 2014-05-17 19:58:10 +0200 )edit@Stephan Probably this is not your case but if you happen to have O2 Germaby multisim then you should check this https://together.jolla.com/question/29749/bug-no-sms-to-networks-abroad/
tkenakka ( 2014-05-17 20:03:24 +0200 )editI thought I do not have this problem. But someone just called me and told me that a SMS was sent to me and I did not receive any, Provider: Fyve/Vodafone Germany, SW-Version: 1.0.7.18 (connman hotfix)
Jörg ( 2014-06-26 10:55:19 +0200 )edit@Jörg Does rebooting give you the sms? Was the sms sent from abroad?
tkenakka ( 2014-06-26 12:39:58 +0200 )edit@tkenakka: Nope, reboot does not bring the SMS back. It was sent by my dentist as a reminder for an appointment I had yesterday. I do not know which service they use, but the lady at the front desk told me that she can "see" that the SMS was sent to me. Well, you never know, whether its true or not.
Jörg ( 2014-06-27 09:54:12 +0200 )edit@Jörg Thanks for the info. Yes we can't rule out a problem in their reservation system, I've had sometimes missing sms from my car repair shop because of that (wasn't using Jolla at that time).
But anyway, there's clear indication Jolla might have some issue since a few different people are reporting the same in this thread.
As you may know, an SMS sender (like you) can set the phone to request delivery receipts. Meaning when a phone receives an SMS requiring receipt, the phone will automaticaly acknowledge the sender (via sms center) that delivery was ok.
Otherwise SMS sending may be ok, but if the remote party is not registered to network, the sms is queued to wait at SMS center.
tkenakka ( 2014-06-27 13:36:44 +0200 )editthe Jolla can be found in a state that 3G reception is shown in the indicator
but SMS and incoming calls are failing.
upon restart the failed SMS are being received by the device (if restarted within the time out of the SMC centre).
This has put me in quite embarrassing situation where I was blaming people for not notifying me in advance about their visit in advance and I have concluded that I can't always rely on the Jolla as primary phone for business. My device is running an untweaked 1.0.8.19.
vandersmash ( 2014-10-06 10:52:06 +0200 )editI have updated to 1.1.2.16 recently. Soon my Jolla stopped receiving SMS. It still sends messages as usual and they are delivered. Because of that bug I didn't get messages from my bank, from my relatives. SMS messaging is pretty important. Things seem to return to normal after reboot, but I lost some important messages, and there is no guarantee it won't happen again! Something needs to be done about that issue, it's the first time I am truly disappointed by my Jolla (I have tolerated even random reboots of the phone) as it fails in most important area for a phone - communications!
