iCloude or Skydrive type services on Jolla

asked 2013-12-24 19:46:12 +0300

As we know on iPhone there is iCloude which uploads user's data online and make it easy to excess from anywhere plus save the data online. Same thing came up with WP devices where integrated Skydrive app allows users to upload Pictures as they are taken by their WP devices. I was thinking about the same kind of service on Jolla. As it is opensource and I don't think it is possible. May be hard for Jolla as they don't own such cloud service. But a service like that on Jolla will be good. It can use Dropbox or Box.com or any other service. This is just an idea and I believe community can work on that.

Now that Younited is being sold, this question is even more relevant than before. Now there is no secure cloud storage for Jolla even in the horizon.

I mean to say an app which can auto upload the pictures and stuff we want to upload. I think the app you are talking is an app where we have to manually upload files

Android version of Dropbox already uploads photos taken with Jolla automatically. It needs to be started on background first but it does it. I use it to sync photos automatically from my Jolla my my iPad. Sailbox could implement similar functionality.

But how does sailbox work? All I get is a screen telling me: "Success! Sailbox is connected to your Dropbox." Now what? No file manager? No screen to continue and see files? How do you use that thing?

Reopened - and for further notice, let's not close the questions before a solution is actually provided. Closing this one has caused several duplicates later

How about good owncloud integration instead of comercial cloud offerings.

I believe by now it is safe to say the announced partnership with F-Secure hasn't turned out to be anything of much use to the Jolla users. The long(!)-awaited Younited app turned out to be for Android, and basically the only that that partnership has yielded has been making the app avaialble in Jolla store - while it has been all the while before available from Younited homepage. It has poor features, and the desktop sync client isn't available for Linux, which makes it a poor choice for many Jolla users. Let's look to other solutions, this isn't one!

Yes, it definitely seems that this option is history: http://community.f-secure.com/t5/Using-younited/F-SECURE-SELLS-YOUNITED-PERSONAL/td-p/66613

October 1 2015 the Younited cloud service has shut down. Recommend using Dropbox and Box with automatic synchronization of a designated /android_storage/synchronizebox/ type folder w, all you have to do is download the box Android app, it works flawlesy on Sailfish 2.0 without need for.google services.
