I have setup my outlook.com account as a generic IMAP email account. Since the 1.0.5.x updates came out I am using it as the default email account. What I have noticed is that the Delete action does not delete emails from the server anymore, it deletes only the local copy on the phone. Has anybody else seen this issue?

I don't use outlook, com but use POP mail and there is no option to delete from server on download or individual deletion. Are you raising this a bug or a feature request?

@bocksersjv Thanks for the reply, I think that this is a bug since outlook.com is setup as an IMAP account and the rest of the gmail accounts (IMAP) successfully synchronize folders; whenever an e-mail is deleted from the phone it gets deleted from the server as well. This behavior was also true for the outlook.com account before the 1.0.5.x updates. I probably didn't describe this properly in the original question

This happened to me yesterday with my dovecot powered IMAP server - I fixed it by doing the old rm -rf ~/.qmf && reboot trick. Sadly, I don't know exactly what happened as I didn't bother to check the logs.

Sounds like a duplicate of this issue: https://together.jolla.com/question/12079/deleted-emails-stick-around-until-expunged-imap/

You need to expunge your IMAP mailbox for the messages to be properly deleted, but the Jolla client lacks a feature to expunge.

hobarrera: well, depends... what is described here happened to me and I fixed it by deleting ~/.qmf (as I used to do in Harmattan), then emails got deleted again. Not sure about this expunge thing.

I can confirm this problem for outlook.com, this is due to a change in their IMAP folders structure. Fixed the issue already internally will be offer in next SW updates, sorry for any inconvenience.

Just as remainder outlook.com can be used via Exchange ActiveSync as well, this problem is not present if exchange is used.

Thanks for letting us know. I prefer using IMAP so I will be waiting for the next update. :)

Cool! I also have this problem since the very beginning (reported here, I updated the title some times ago because I though about a folder mapping issue, but the original post was for the deletion problem, see at the bottom). If I look at the log when deleting, nothing happen, same than jukey reported here.

@cquence as a workaround while waiting for the fix, you can simply long press and move the message to the Deleted folder, it correctly deletes the message on the server.

@Sthocs - Please note that standard folders are translated in email app side, can you please tell me the exact name of your standard folders in the server side ? (if outlook.com in English don't bother :) )

VDVsx ( 2014-05-06 08:40:54 +0300 )edit

@VDVsx yes sorry, the description is no more accurate, at some point I was not able to send/delete so I thought it was a folder mapping issue (messages were going in the folder on the phone but not on the server). But strangely, when I activated the logs, it made the sending work (after a discussion here). So I should have updated my post to indicate that, but I forgot.

I don't want to up it now, you can just ignore it, I will simply wait for the next update and maybe close it :) (the folders on outlook.com are Inbox Sent and Deleted otherwise). Thank you.

Fixed in 1.0.7.16, Saapunki, better to re-created the account, a sync from combined inbox or email cover also should fix this, if you still have issues please comment here.
