Should tinder android app push notifications work?

I'd like to know whether android app notifications should work or not on Jolla. I'm primarily interested in the Tinder application, which seems to work ok otherwise but the push notifications don't seem to work. Is that actually the case and can we then make them work?
It seems that google has it's own system for notifications (Google Cloud Messaging), amazon seems to have another (Amazon SNS) and looks like there are some other platforms on android as well. A general idea on how to figure out before trying an app whether or not the push notifications would work would be appreciated as well
