it's a snapdragon soc, but i don't think they're really comparable. There are many snapdragons in the wild

Yes, and probably, there won't be many Touchpads in the wild anymore in the near future...

I think that this is technically possible, and goes with the Sailfish for Android idea. If Sailfish can run on any Android device (I guess thanks to libhybris project) it will run on an HP touchpad, since Android has been ported on the Touchpad.

Moreover, (and I just learned this), some devs at XDA also ported the N950 port of Sailfish OS SDK to the Touchpad. See this thread on XDA.
