I've been following this for a while. It's interesting and this community should embrace this project! Let's make this the default IM app for Sailfish!

Would it be possible/easy for jolla to integrate it into the current messaging app instead of having a separate app??

Yes, now that the social media plugins are open sourced (https://github.com/nemomobile/buteo-sync-plugins-social), it is possible to integrate it very thightly.

Hmmm are you sure it's related to the social plugins??? I thought it had to do more with telepathy?? If i understand the whole thing corectly we will need telepathy-haze and then a tox plugin for libpurple.

Except if someone whites a telepathy-tox thing.

Also i read that tox isn't that mobile friendly (uses a lot of cpu) which is something that must be addressed.

Ah I see. Sorry, I misunderstood your answer. What I read was something like "could it be integrated in the jolla messaging system", so it could behave as a twitter or facebook account. I do think a separate app would be better, as video calls or file transmissions are not supported by the current messaging app at all.

It should behave like sms/xmpp etc. With all funcionality enabled of course. Half-assed implementations/features missing is one of the main reasons XMPP didn't catch up.

Separate app or not it MUST work flawlessly for the end user.

The tox Messenger in the Warehouse (OpenRepos.net) is a good App to use for Chat and File-Transfer

There is a cyanide being made. But it’s not in working state at the moment. At least I don’t understand how it should work.

latest cyanide version 0.1.5-1, is working fine.

Yes tvicol is right, the newes cyanide (tox-Messenger) version works create and has File-Transfer support.

Cyanide seems to "work". But... The Id created responds in client as 'not valid' Creating an id with toxic https://build.merproject.org/package/show/home:nielnielsen/toxic responds as valid. Once a friends request is made from cyanide to the id by toxic, and accepted in toxic, id from cyanide is wirking, and chatting is possible between clients.

So, something is faulty with cyanide.

Either the id is not correctly registered from client to server. Or. Datafile by cyanide is incorrect.

Or .......

You can also use the toxme.se https://toxme.se/ service for tox ID DNS lookup. I used this with my desktop tox ID and it worked fine.
