settings > system > WLAN > [pulley menu] > connect to internet

i end up doing this very often. (i dont know if this is a redundant step instead of waiting for it to connect automatically)

so can this be made available as a favoritable shortcut?

I believe, this is superfluous: Just tap the WiFi/WLAN symbol on Settings and it will connect.

That is not always the case. I often find myself doing this procedure when switching from 3G to wlan and vice versa. This happens in places where reception is a bit spotty.

Still, a shortcut shouldn't be needed. The phone should just connect automatically, and instantly.

I have a similar issue with Bluetooth in the car. I have to connect the device manually to the car, even if it is set to autoconnect.

yes. as @bilgy_no1 said, it is related to reception (from the network infrastructure side; not Jolla issue). At work, I have to move around between different networks. On Maemo there was an option to set the wlan 'search interval'. I agree a separate shortcut is a bit superflous; so if the same network selection dialog popped while pressing the wifi toggle button itself, that would work too.

I see the same problem. See here:

But actually I think the notification area would be great to display the Internet connection status and could also allow direct access to the settings.

Whilst you can't add the pulley menu to the favorites you can add the WLAN entry to the favorites and get rid of one step, leaving Settings > WLAN > Pulley.

thanks. yes, that's how I've been using it for a while :) .I have two wlan icons as favorite: one toggle switch & other the wlan settings page.

Update 6 has the ability to add custom items the pulley menu. Therefore you could add this action if needed.

what's introduced in update6 is just an option to customize the items listed in lockscreen's pulley-menu. (which is great btw). what I'm requesting here is: the ability to add any setting in the settings app as a 'favorite' to the first page of the app.
