I'm planning to buy a GoPro cam that can be accessed via Wifi using an Android app. I can extract the app from Play Store on my tablet to my phone to test it but I'm wondering if anyone has had any success using this app?

I bought the Sony Action Cam HDR-As100V instead and the Android Play Memories app doesn't do anything with the camera. No error messages no nothing :(

The TJC user @Manwe answered in an other question that the WIFI is deactivated in the Android Dalvik and should be activated to be able to use such apps without problems. Check out his How-To. :)

I installed old version of GoPro app and restarted the phone. Everything works like a charm. Only 1sec delay in preview (must be normal). Controls and settings works. Installed from Aptoide appstore (from Jolla store). Search "gopro", select "similars" and select "+more". (I have Finnish version of Aptoide so I only guess those english translations) Version 2.2.59 works very well. Can someone test if this works for someone else?

When I close that inform application shut down. That camera use iSmart DV software (fron Apptoide apps store). I have connected that wifi, it works. Jolla´s info say that WiFi Direct don´t made yet.?? How I can use my camera? Jos mahdollista niin suomeksi :) kun on hoono englaanti.

I use a GoPro China Clone ( Victure AC800 ). Using nmap i checkked out the Camera IP and serveral open ports.

Camera network : 192.168.1.1/24 Camera IP : 192.168.1.254

Using Operabrowser ( android app ) ( SfOS Browser does' t connect to livefeed, file adminstration connection works )

Address: 192.168.1.254 => HTTP(S) connection : file administration ( upload, download, delete )for Videos and Pictures

Address: 192.168.1.254:8192 => Livefeed from camera

I think the command were send via HTTP requests to the cam, but which command are used ... reverse engenierung and try and error :/

Hi!

I can also confirm that GoPro App cant find my GoPro either! I Have GoPro Hero 3 + Silver.

edit: I also downloaded "camera director free" and it worked instantly but however previewing pictures didin't work at first but at my second try it worked! It also would be nice if the actual GoPro App would work also!

Hi, everyone. So I have tested the GoPro Hero 3+ with my Jolla, and i think the problem why the original GoPro app does not connect to the camera is the preview. I have tested several apps and the only app that worked was an app, which had a preview as a separate feature, that you had to start by pressing a button which opened a separate window. Which, of course, did not work, but all other features, like changing the settings, switching the camera off/on and starting filming and taking photos worked. The app is called "RemoteGO". So it would be great if there was a way to make the preview work also.

Hi, I've posted earlier that mine works OK. I stand corrected, since I've noticed that often the app goes crazy, and says "Connection Lost" event though I can ping the GoPro. Nevertheless, the preview can be accessed at the following URL: http://10.5.5.9:8080/live/amba.m3u8 This does not work from the Jolla browser (haven't tried any other), but it works OK when opened with VLC. There is a huge, 3-4s lag though, but I can live with it :)

VLC doesn't work either. It shows the image for a fraction of a second and closes it.

Preview works for me when I open that link on MX Player. I have Hero 3

URL: http://10.5.5.9:8080/live/amba.m3u8 : the preview works now with the new native browser ! For me to, the Android app now shows "connection lost" while it worked very well (preview also) in the beginning that I had my jolla (jan 14). I don't know what is the update that broke the connection. So if it worked, there must be a way to make it working again, no ?

Hope you'll get it connected. Let us know how it goes. Thanks!

Hm, that's strange, my Hero3 Silver Edition connected without issues. Maybe I am stating the obvious, but before you start the app, you have to connect your Jolla to your GoPro's own WiFi network. Have you done that?

sghctoma ( 2014-05-30 08:45:13 +0300 )edit

Yes, I did that. Connected to wifi, received IP, but originat GoPro app can`t connect to camera. I have tested other apps for GoPro and two of them was able to connect to camera. Still trying to find out why GoPro original app can't connect.
