Just type S2, it's easier =D

welcoming a new sailor onboard with a downvote?! not a good practice. well, the question could have been reframed better.. but still not a crime to be penalized with -1

Hmm... tap ?123, tap 1/2, tap <, tap 2/2, tap 3? Ok, quite many steps if you do it a lot, and the 1/2 (or 2/2) key is not very intuitively labeled...

Unless you meant the heart symbol, in which case the other answer is better :)

the 1/2 is what I was looking for. Would you consider making it look different from the other symbols?

On TMO, I published a VKB config file "Extended English" with 3 added to the e key, and < to the comma. The specs of one of these config files has changed since then, I would be happy to send the new ones over. http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=91917&page=21 then look under #208

Basically, it comes down to changing en.qml. Change the upper KeyboardRow with the numbers (I deleted some special characters):

KeyboardRow {
    CharacterKey { caption: "q"; captionShifted: "Q"; symView: "1"; symView2: "€"; accents: "q1"; accentsShifted: "Q1" }
    CharacterKey { caption: "w"; captionShifted: "W"; symView: "2"; symView2: "£"; accents: "w2"; accentsShifted: "W2" }
    CharacterKey { caption: "e"; captionShifted: "E"; symView: "3"; symView2: "$"; accents: "eèéë€3"; accentsShifted: "EÈÉË€3" }
 ... (not enough space here)
}

Change the SpacebarRow drastically:

KeyboardRow {
    SymbolKey {}

    CharacterKey { caption: ","; captionShifted: ","; symView: ","; symView2: ","; accents: ",\\;([{<"; accentsShifted: ",\\;([{<" }

    SpacebarKey { fixedWidth: true }

    CharacterKey { caption: "."; captionShifted: "."; symView: "."; symView2: "."; accents: "./]})>:!?"; accentsShifted: "./]})>:!?" }

    EnterKey {}
}
