When I first started using Jolla I transerred all my contacts via SIM-card to the new phone. For some reason these contacts didn't have their last name so I edited all the contacts that I wanted to have a last name.

Problem:

After updating to the 1.0.2.5 Maadjävri the people app synced the contacts from the SIM card again so that I had the orignal contacts transerred from the SIM and the edited contacts I explained above. Not sure if there's a real bug but I know another person too who had a similar kind of problem with People app.

Cheers

I have a similar problem after updating to 1.0.2.5. I use the Facebook-Contacts as basis and then import my contacts via a single vcf-file. After doing this, sim contacts appear without any reason.

Before 1.0.2.5 this way of adding old contacts worked without an error.

Same problem occured for me and it was very annoying to go through all my contacts and merge/delete... Finaly I ended up with an inconsistent behaviour where some of my contacts are in my SIM and another part is in the phone, this is a bit problematic :/

It seems that contacts from the SIM keep coming back over and over again. I keep deleting them and they re-appear in peoples app after some time. This is getting a bit annoying...

@Nux: the next update includes the ability to disable the automatic availability of SIM contacts.

The automatic replication of SIM contacts into the People database is now optional - it can be turned off in the settings page for the People app (in version 1.0.3.8 or later).

Thanks for this hint. My situation: I inserted my new nano SIM card in my Sailfish X device and the contacts from the SIM card popped up in my address book. "No problem", I thought and started to delete these unwanted contacts. I believed they would be deleted from the SIM card, since they disappeared from the address book. But after the next reboot, all SIM contacts were back again!?!?!?

Seems like SailfishOS does not delete the SIM card contacts.

At least disabling all SIM card contacts made those unwanted contacts disappear forever. :)
