Simplest GUI for the shell

We need the simplest possible GUI for us console hackers. Graphics not really needed, clickable buttons in textmode (bash shell) would be sufficient.

Options I considered:

  • zenity: not available for Sailfish OS
  • yad (yet another dialog): not available. See http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1421838
  • xmessage: not possible as it needs X-Server
  • Tkinter with tcl/tk: not supported (?)
  • ncurses: might work, but no touch support
  • QML: maybe too highlevel

Other ideas?

Yes, would be great to have someting like yad or zenity.

Is there anything compareable on sailfish?

Is the app "Terminal" too bad in comparison? I'm not an expert but I thought it is quite useful as console.. or are you talking about sth else?

Edit: Terminal is the app-name after it is installed but the actual name is FingerTerm by Heikki Holstila I found this link in Openrepos https://openrepos.net/content/hooddy/fingerterm but I have the Version 1.1.14 on my phone. Unfortunately i don't know where I found it since I use it already more than one year.

Edit 2: I'm not so sure but doesn't Fingerterm/Terminal show up automatically when you activate developer mode?

I think the OP means something different. Look at the wikipage of the first suggestion zenity So the OP wants something to easily use GUI elements in a terminal (bash) application. Not a GUI for the terminal itself.
