Since I updated to the latest Firmware I've got massive Battery drain and the Jolla is getting very hot. Lighthouse says a Process called tracker-store is constantly using CPU with around 40-50%. Do anybody know this process or what to do? thanks!

Update: Today I had the same problem without tracker-store. My Jolla got very hot because different processes intensively used the CPU. Looking at Lighthouse told me, that the phone restarted by itself (uptime 10min) in my poket and tracker-store reappeared. Has anyone similar problems?

Update 2: Maybe the problem is linked to the new connman in my case, because after killing tracker-store in my case the phone also got hot in situation with poor wifi signal, where the phone always try to reconnect, I will figure it out with the old connman and report.

Update 3: still on 1.0.7.18, now it's appearing randomly - heating and massive battery drain - no special process but constant 50% CPU-Usage... :(

Update 4: maybe tracker-store is indexing the android apps rainisto (jolla) posted some kind of indexing after updating...

Update 5: got an answer from rainisto tracker-store is indexing your media files (may take up to 24h, if process is killed, will restart after restart)

Update 6: Tracker-store seemed to finish index, last time no need to kill the process - device still gets hot :(

Update 7: maybe related to mitakuuluu. Process doesn't appear in lighthouse but sometimes when CPU-Usage is high restarting mitakuuluu helps - who of you is using mitakuuluu?

Update 8: Developer is working on a fix in the futher mitakuuluu version: https://github.com/CODeRUS/mitakuuluu2/issues/141

Update 9: I observed my device for a couple of days. It's not only related to mitakuuluu gone wild. Battery drain is much higher than with paarlampi. Hunger Meter shows higher power consumption than before without using 4G...

Update 10: Maybe all lf us having problems should participate here: Battery Report for all Stages of Sailfish OS what do you think?

Update 11: 1.0.8.19 seems not to change anything in this case

Update 12: Mitakuuluu has been released in Version 0.8.1.-4, the release note describes different bugfixes and a probably fix for the 100% CPU-Usage-Problem. So let's have a try! I'm figuring it out since yesterday and I observed less battery drain through the night. I'm going to update the post in a few days with a final report, if the problems got fixed or if there other problems ;-)

Update 13: Sometimes I got the problems but under normal conditions no more problems. I have Hunger meter open all the time, in high power consumption phases I close mitakuuluu and reopen.

Final Update: Since massive problems with registration through mitakuuluu and getting banned for using mitakuuluu and Coderus stopping developing further, I switched to Android Whatsapp. Now my problems are gone. Now I have an average power consumption of 300mW, befor it was between 500-600mW. I don't know exactly if it is also related to updating to 1.1.0.39. Tracker-process don't use the CPU as much as before with the latest version.

Did you allready have a look at lighthouse while device is heated like discribed? Maybe it is also a special process causing the heat with intensiv CPU-Usage...

Had a not so massive drain yesterday with 1.0.7.16: around 5% in half an hour without usage. Normaly the battery level reduces less than 5% during full night (8 hours without usage but WLAN connected).

Had used the hotspot for some minutes in the morning. Don't know if this was the cause.

Stopped all open apps. Checked top in terminal for CPU consuming processes. Nothing special. Battery drain still happened. Than switched on and off flight mode and it seemed to help.

It's not - only - related to 4G. I'm mainly stuck in 2G (I switch sometimes manually in 3G) and I can confirm the higher battery drain.

Edit: false alarm! It was related to some Android app not properly closed and also to the new version of Mitakuuluu which consumes more battery.

I used to be able to only charge my phone at work, it lasted from Friday afternoon till Monday morning, usually then down at 30% as I don't use my phone a lot, but after the update I need to charge already on Sunday morning (down at 5%) and I don't feel I have used the phone more than usually. Using the battery meeter application, it seems to be close to 2W which before it used to be below 1W. I guess one thing that drains is the Alien Dalvik, but not sure if it's which drains me most.

I did pay extra attention for processes and their CPU consumption (by LightHouse) for last two days. I can confirm that Mitakuuluu (v0.8.0-2) consumes up to 50% CPU sometimes/randomly on my device. Restart the app solve this.

cocovina ( 2014-06-24 15:33:22 +0300 )edit

Same situation as cocovina here. Mitakuuluu randomly consumes 100% of CPU, only workaround being to restart the app. It soon empties the battery otherwise.

The problem with Mitakuuluu and battery drain is known by the developer and will be fixed. The problem is caused when switching between networks (2G<->3G<->4G<->Wi-fi)

Activated 4G today. watch a little over discharge the battery when the camera is activated. may be to blame option "preferably 4G" on the SIM card without the support of 4G.

Did your device also get that hot with prefered 3G?

yes, but i think what my problem was linked to the performance of GPS module. I set to attach coordinates to the photo. and I suspect that the gps module is not working correctly.

There is a known issue about the AGPS location availability being slow/impartial over 4G. It was part of the release note IIRC.

cquence ( 2014-06-16 18:33:30 +0300 )edit

AGPS work quick and fine. But quick location have radius 100m :)

look at my workaround: Install the App Lighthouse (should be in Store). Open Lighthouse and choose Processes, make sure that the list is sorted by CPU Usage (Pulley menue). On top of the list there should be the process tracker-store - long-click on it, choose "kill". The process should be gone and shouldn't reappear till restart.

So in my case CPU Usagw is nearly zero in Idle and device isn't getting that hot anymore

drummer12 ( 2014-06-14 12:57:16 +0300 )edit

your device isn't getting that hot anymore for next reboot. and this solve don't help with camera and internet usage. Francesco have problem too.

maybe one of the development team could help us ;)

drummer12 ( 2014-06-14 15:08:57 +0300 )edit

dunno. we need more vote :) and people don't following this question :(

sa.rasputin ( 2014-06-14 18:05:23 +0300 )edit

Hej,

maybe it's a 4G issue? As far as I know the 2/3/4G switch application that I came across in Warehouse explained that 4G mode should only be enabled while being connected to power source because of the high energy consumption... and that could also be related to the high temperature next to the cam (although I don't know which part of the phone is where).

Greetings - Lutwolf

So finally I solved the problem very easy. I just turned on the flight mode for half an hour. The process disappeared. Since then I work normally with my Phone and it looks like the process doesn't reappear. I will have a look on it and report here.

Edit 2h later: play around for a while but after reboot same problem again

Workaround: Just kill the tracker-store process with the Lighthouse-App, you have to do this again after each reboot... :(

is not the solution. I'm not sure that this will not happen after the first reboot your smartphone. It did not have to upgrade, and I think that this is not the answer. constantly include flight mode? for someone else is a way out, to update the smartphone does not run hotter and not plant at the end of the battery.

maybe try removing and readding your jolla account.

tracker-store doesn't have anything to do with the Jolla store, FYI.

nthn ( 2014-06-13 23:18:12 +0300 )edit

nothing happend... without account only d.process.media had 34% after readding the process reappeard :/

drummer12 ( 2014-06-13 23:18:20 +0300 )edit

Linux Forum says it is a process indicating files and stuff...
