Install Threema without Play Store [answered]
Hi there!
I have read that several people have successfully installed Threema on their Jolla. Is it possible to download it from the Threema webpage, install and run it without having the Google Play Store installed? How well is it working?
Thanks.
What works really well for me is Amazon's App Store. The advantage is that you get access to 100k approved apps through a trustworthy merchant, and you receive updates to apps also through the Amazon App Store. I bought Threema just with my Amazon account. If you download Threema from their webpage and pay with Paypal, you will need to check for updates manually. Another advantage of Amazon's App Store is the free app per day. Just search for "amazon app store" from your Jolla. That will take you to Amazon where you just download the APKfor the App Store. Then you sign in with your Amazon account. Done. If you wanna check out if your favourite Android App is in the Amazon App Store, just go to the Amazon page of your country (e.g. Amazon.co.uk) or global Amazon.com and search within the "Apps & Games".

Regarding the updates. I get update notification through Threema and can download and install them through the app. Works very will I did several updated over the last view month. So no need for Amazon =)

I've added manually some contacts to Jolla people: don't show up to Android apps. I've installed 'GO Contacts/Dialer" and tried to add a contact manually since import from VCF fails: it complains that is not able to save the contact. Is this an issue of Uitukka or is there anything that I can do to have at least some contacts available to Android apps - such as Threema ?
sunnystar ( 2014-12-14 19:54:10 +0300 )editI am not sure if I do understand your issue. Here it was no problem to assing contacts from my address book to a Threema contact. The only thing that did not work is the contact image, I do not see that in Threema.
