I have some albums from especially cdon.com it seems tracker does not recognize those albums?

On N9 it works without problem I checked the albumimages and notices:

  • cdon.com has very stupid naming of files and space in filenames etc. Could this be an issue for tracker? On cdon.com filename is: "Artist Album Name.jpg" and there is no way separate it :( example: /home/nemo/Music/coldplay/mylolo_xylolo/Coldplay Mylo Xyloto 1 Mylo Xyloto.jpg

  • Some of those images files are "bigger" files: 1300x1300 pixel size jpeg format.

  • I tried to rename album to album_front.jpg and also convert them 400x400 because those often seems to work on my old albums that I have? But still ytracker dont recognize them? or maybe tracker does noit rescan directory after change?

Can this be solved in some way? Should I rename it in some way or could it be fixed in tracker?

Cover art seems to be a more used term. I suggest using that in the tags.

Adding to the question itself, I have tried aac files with embedded cover art images (iTunes), flac files with embedded cover art and flac files accompanied by a cover.jpg file in the same folder. None of these show up in the media player but work fine on my laptop.

I have exactly the same issue. Hard-reseting tracker won't help.

Same problem here too. In some cases it is totally missing, sometimes it shows previous covers. Also some album info missing. What formats of album art and info the player supports?

embedded cover art on flac doesnt work for me. but having it in "folder.jpg" on the album folder works perfectly.

All of my songs are encoded the same way (.ogg) and get a file folder.jpg as album cover in the folder for each album. Some are shown in the media app and some aren't.

I've seen no direct rhyme or reason behind tracker's failure to index album art sometimes. I've seen it blithely ignore a 200kB cover.jpg while adding in a 900kB cover.jpeg; I've seen it read FLAC tags with 600x600 jpg images embedded, and ignore others with nearly identical images embedded.

However, one can manually add cover art. I go into it in more details in my answer to a duplicate question, but the gist is:

  1. Tracker follows the Media Art Storage Spec
  2. It stores the JPGs (or symlinks to them) in /home/nemo/.cache/media-art/
  3. If you put a file named according to the spec into that folder, it will automagically show up in the Media app, no need for a tracker rebuild or whatnot.

As an example, I just went and got the filename for Metric's album "Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?" by running the following:

echo album-$(echo -n "metric" | md5sum | cut -d ' ' -f 1)-$(echo -n "old world underground, where are you now" | md5sum | cut -d ' ' -f 1).jpeg

which spits out album-2cbc8352e68eb2a531a57d26f53c2db1-27db52025dfa6b3130473e976c450b95.jpeg
