This is supposed to be a list of issues not worth their own question. I will enter these as a response to my own question rather than in the question body, so that other people are welcome to enter their own observations too.

One more issue with Nexus 4:

  • Sometimes the soft keys (back, home, recent apps) just stay on the screen quite persistently. (But sometimes they do disappear.)

  1. I have problem looking notifications the Jolla way to swipe up in lock screen. If I do that my PI menu opens if I change it to the normal one I get those keys shown. So I have to open it the same way as before from the notification bar.
  2. How do you remove sound and vibration from quick menu on the lock screen?

Some observations on Nexus 5 (4.4.4):

  • "Swipe down from the top to exit full screen" hint is shown every time the screen is locked from the launcher home screen and then unlocked. If locked while an application is on the foreground this does not happen.

  • Starting/resuming and exiting applications is far less responsive than with stock Android launcher

  • I would prefer to keep the original (Android) icons for applications. It would be nice to have this as an option.

The exit full screen hint is something android does when apps go to fullscreen (immersive mode). There's no option AFAIK to disable it.

If you have disabled the transition animation scale mentioned in other comments, and are not using the home button to go home, the launching sill incurs "penalty" in the form of animating to the home view rather than instantly jumping to the app. This could feel sluggish if you are used to the more instant action of Android launcher(s).

Some observations / questions (Nexus 4):

  1. Should Sailfish notification view be available? The lock screen even advertises it if you touch the notification icons.
  2. Slow transitions indeed when swiping away from an app (Jolla works much better ;). Couldn't find 'advanced settings' referred to above...
  3. Sometimes the Home view gets stuck displaying the time, battery & network indicators (animation stops too early). A single touch is enough to continue to Home displaying just the open apps + four app icons.
  4. Displaying the (miminised) app content in Home is erratic. Only sometimes there is something else than an app icon displayed in the minimised window.
  5. Really minor: At battery level 75 % there was a rendering glitch just below the '7', a small horizontal line just below the '7', about half-width of the '7', aligned left.

  1. No it is not yet available, as said on the release notes.
  2. Transition settings are available in Android's Developer settings.
  3. Yes this is a problem due to Android, but after 2 visits to the application the thumbnail should show up correctly.
  4. Yes this a weird problem, it might be in Qt - can somebody help with that?

  1. I already forgot...
  2. Thanks, it's better now!

Here are some things I noticed: By the way, my device is the original Galaxy Note (N7000) with CM11 on it.

  1. The tutorial is stretched on the 16:10 screen of the Note (I understand it is made for 16:9 screens but I'm mentioning it anyway)
  2. Swiping from the edge while inside an app is impossible unless I take the stylus out. Swiping at the tutorial, and inside the launcher (to access ambiances) is easy.
  3. If the screen is locked (either automatically or manually by pressing the power button) while an app is active, when the powerbutton is pressed the standard android lockscreen appears instead of the jolla-launcher one. If the phone is locked while the launcher is active it works as expected.
  4. Dragging with the stylus registers the whole movement after release (i.e after the stylus tip leaves the glass) except edge swiping which works as expected.
  5. Minimizing an application takes longer than on Jolla, and showing the clock/status area is not enough to denote waiting status (it seems like this is the final state, but it is not responsive)
  6. There is a flash of black in the middle of the application minimize/maximize animation
  7. The hardware back button does nothing while in edit mode
  8. The descenders of Messaging from the docked icons bleed out on the first page of apps
  9. The phone is still running android

2: the area where you can start the swipe is intentionally very small, since otherwise we block app usage (and even keyboard) so you need to start really accurately on the edge.

3: dismissing the lock screen is very problematic when in apps, again a feature that isn't really supported by android

4: sounds like a qt input handling problem (the edge swipes are handled differently), Note probably does something specific with the stylus input...

5: try disabling transition animation scale in advanced settings.

2: I thought that might be it but no matter how hard I try I cannot initiate a swipe. And the N7000 doesn't have the smallest of bezels either

5: disabling all animations seems to improve the time a bit but it's still long

Observations on my Xperia Z1 running CM11:

  • You can't uninstall apps, add own ambiances and change the default lockscreen pully menu actions
  • Locking the phone plays the locking sound once, then a little break and then about 3 times quickly (sounds almost like a galloping horse :D).
  • The lock screen pully menu is pretty laggy
  • The tutorial is a bit too promising/too sailfishy. When the tutorial is over the contacts app doesn't look like the tutorial, there are no active covers, etc.
  • The background of the pully menu in the tutorial is the open apps screen from the actual launcher (outside the tutorial).

On my Nexus 7 2013 wifi running CM11 the jolla launcher doesn't start at all. Edit: This is probably related to it running ART. not dalvik.

I've also noticed the paypal app being an email app icon, this was mildly confusing :D
