Could we have separate jolla-store areas for Android and non-Android Apps or at least the possibility to filter out the android apps please? Since about a week now the "New Apps" is swamped with Android apps, making it very tedious to find non-android apps. I for one am not in the least bit interested in Android, if I had wanted Android I'd have bought a Samsung or something else. I am just assuming I am not alone with this opinion. As I've said before, I can understand why this is great for Android fans or for bringing Android fans to Jolla. But I sincerely hope Jolla is not going to make Android the 'primary' platform for apps.

I also noticed that since Launcher launch (?), more and more android app are appearing.

As meanwhile also Ad-supportef native Apps are approaching, also it would be nice to filter these. I would suggest filter options in store settings to filter Android Apps or Ad supported Apps...

@ApB I like your idea, a toggle is the best way to filter out the Android apps. We don't need to have a separate app store otherwise it's going to be very confusing for normal users. If we really want to make Jolla successful for a mass market, we need to offer the largest choice possible for those users and whether the apps are Android or Sailfish native, it should be transparent to them.

It was suggested that I move my answer from another question here instead. ...so now I do.

The Jolla store should handle all apps for jolla phones.

In most desktop linux environments there is a software manager. The software manager handles all installs, updates and removals. The norm is also that the software manager has a set of channels. One channel has the same software as the install media. Another has non-free applications. A third caters for software that are prohibited to use in certain countries. The list of available channels can be long.

Could the Jolla software manager (AKA the jolla store) use the same idea? The sailfish apps would be sorted into a handful of distinct channels as stated above.

Each app market (yandex, aptoid, etc.) could then simply be added with one or more channels. One channel for free software, one for non-cost apps and a third for for-pay ones. ...or something similar.

Jolla would maintain a directory of channels that could be added to the software manager. Ticking a few boxes would give the user the selection of app markets he or she wants. Even experimental stuff or testing versions could have their own channels, used at ones own risk.

After all, this is the standard in most modern linux distributions.

Currently there's a small droid-icon to help recognizing all Android apps in Jolla Store.

In a long run, there might be quite a lot of Android apps used by Jolla owners. Now that the Yandex store and Aptoide store are downloadable as optional appstores (see Jolla Store > Categories > Marketplaces), I'd like to see all Android apps (except for the marketplaces themselves) removed from Jolla store, leaving Jolla store cleaned for Sailfish OS apps only.

As an example, this could be done with adding a new Aptoide store named "jolla.store.aptoide.com" and make it a 2nd default store installed to Aptoide (additional to Aptoide Official App Store, which is installed by default now). Apps in this 2nd store could even be tested to work on Jolla. However, this is just an example, please feel free to add new answers as other possibilities to implement this - Let's find the best solution together and vote it up to get rid of Android apps in Jolla store!

The best way to get rid of the android apps -which i highly hope for- is for devs to write hi quality polished native apps and submit them. This of course means allowing paid apps in the store. And maybe get someone high at jolla get in contact with people at instagram (or any other app that doesn't have a full featured api available publicly) so devs can get access to it.

Yes, it is odd that 8 months after Jolla launch there is still no capability to charge for apps. And whilst there are plenty of people in the FOSS world who will happily write apps and utilities that remain free, there are others for whom this is not the case, and for whom Sailfish thus remains a no go platform. We're never going to get Swype, for example, if Swype cannot charge for their product. The Jolla store needs to introduce the ability and framework to support charging if we want to see the store actually expand and become competitive with app stores for other platforms.

Oh its coming. After summer they said. The problem with one man band devs/foss devs is that the majority of them are unable to produce a polished app. They are usually driven by "scratch an itch" than by "deliver a hi quality polished product" And the result of this is sub par apps that suffer in UX or missing features (mainly because the dev doesn't care or doesn't need it)
