Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open the Sailfish Browser
  2. Go to imgur.com, download a random image
  3. Go to the Gallery, observe how it properly picked up an image
  4. Open an browser running through the Android layer (I used Opera Mobile, downloaded from http://get.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/android/2200/Opera_22_1_Generic_Opera_ARMv7_LZMA.apk)
  5. Go to imgur.com again, download an image again
  6. Observe how a gallery is unaware of the new image

It's possible that the android_storage directory, or whatever's its name is not monitored by the tracker daemon. Another interesting fact is that both downloads show up in the notification area, but only the one from the Sailfish browser has a Transfer icon next to it.

I believe this also goes the other way round: Android apps are often not aware of files added to Sailfish. Example: 1.Open your Android Dropbox app, tap the photos tab. It scans for new images to upload to Dropbox, if you have automatic photo upload enabled. 2. Close Dropbox, and take some pictures with the Sailfish camera app. 3. Re-open Android Dropbox: It can't see the new pictures you took. Try the Android Gallery app: same here. I can't figure out what the rule is when new content is registered by the Android VM - it's not always after a reboot... This is one of the major current letdowns of so-called Android compatibility :-(
