ok, been waiting to make this post. It might seem silly/dummy but my problem is how to turn the device off. Long press should be the solution but every time that i want to switch off i completely fail by long pressing 30+ seconds and nothing happens. Why?

If you have lighthouse installed it has phone controls in the pulley menu where you can shut it off.

I think, Alex gave the answer in his comment above:

But since, mostly new jolla users (like me) will hit this problem, let me put some details around:
First, have a look at the Jolla User Guide, especially section Lock, Home, Launcher and Events, to get to know what is meant by "lockscreen". (It is the part of the main screen, showing the current time at its bottom line.)
Let's start with this situation: Your jolla device is on but the dispaly is off, because you didn't use it the last X minutes. To turn your jolla phone off (or shut down your jolla phone (to user other keywords for the search engine, too)) do the following:
=> The display will turn off and you'll see a red led, indicating, that your jolla phone is shutting down.
In addition, I did some detailed tests on my jolla phone (Update 1.0.8.21 (Tahkalampi)):

Normally shutdown happens as follows:
For the above to work, both mce and lipstick must be functioning as expected. As a fallback for occasions when either one is not, dsme is directly observing power button too. If it sees "looong power key press" (at least 5 seconds), it will self-initiate a shutdown.
If nothing seemingly happens with over 5 second power key press, it might be that also dsme is whacked and/or some stuck system services cause problems for systemd controlled shutdown (it waits a while before forcing services to quit). In case it is the latter, waiting for 1.5 to 2 minutes might be better than yanking out the battery immediately.

Maybe your off button is not working. It should be no more then 5 seconds.

One day I read that the phone must be unlocked to turn off and then it seemed to work, but today, when I wanted to try if it's still working, I had several unsuccessful attempts. Finally, when I pressed the button harder than usually, it worked and worked also several times after that. Maybe you also have to press the button harder? Or is there some kind of strange software bug that just locks the phone before turning it off?
