I could do this on the N900.

in the People app, there should be a way to lookup contacts via the GAL (Global Address List) in the mail server (Exchange or any other server that talks activesync) and add them to the People app.

When composing a new email, I can type the person's alias or full display name and when sending, it should auto-resolve the names for me.

I think part of your request is covered by: https://together.jolla.com/question/402/feature-request-exchange-contacts-global-directory-search/ Please vote there as MW side is ready and Jolla team has only to add GUI according to @VDVsx. Or is it a total duplicate? - I ma not sure.
