Hello. When creating a new text message the placeholder text "Hi $Name" is always pre-entered as the body of the message. It seems no matter what I do this text will get overwritten. Is there a way to continue after this text without overwriting (usually I will want to start a message with "Hi Name" and would like not to retype it).

In fact it would be nice to be able to configure a template for messages eg "Hi $name. Best Wishes $Me." so that one can type the actual text in the middle.

That's a good question, I often asked myself but never started googling for ;-)

Even better: The text could already be selected. If you choose to keep the intro, you can tap behind the selected text to continue with the actual message. If you choose not to keep the intro, then any keystroke will overwrite the already selected text.

It's a placeholder text not pre-entered text. Placeholder text works that way and can't be changed.

Actually a very good idea to add only pre-entered text that you can then keep or delete when typing a new message.

But as such is pretty useless. Does anybody using a smartphone need to be given the suggestion "start your message with Hi $Name", (without being able to either send this text as is or extent/modify it) ?

I think it's there to indicate to whom the message is to be sent.

I think it is just a placeholder like "Enter your message here", just a bit nicer ;)

if $Name is removed then there is no other way to find out the conversation you are in
