I usually used Whatsapp for android leaving it in multitasking so I can receive/send messages. I always see, in the reduced app, that it goes normally so I could see notifications or people writing me like if it's open, the only difference was that the app has a little space in the screen.

After the update 1.0.8.19 all android app, in multitasking, doesn't see the updated app's screen ( in whatsapp I can't see new messages or other, in lots of other apps I see only a black screen).

I have to wait the next update to have a real preview of all android apps like older Sailfish version or it will be like this forever?

Why don't you use Mitakuuluu for WhatsApp?

I want to belive in Jolla and Sailfish, I want to install only the apps I find in the Jolla store or android app. I'm sure that if lots of people will use Sailfish all popular apps (whatsapp, telegramm.....) will make the Sailfish version of the app.

But Mitakuuluu is a native SailfishOS WhatsApp client. You can find it in Warehouse. If you believe in SailfishOS, then it's better to use as many native apps as possible. Whether they come from Warehouse or the Jolla Store. Esp. since Mitakuuluu works so well, way better than the Android version of WhatsApp.

This isn't about (the very closed, proprietary, privacy encumbered) whatsapp, but it seems to be all apps. They seem to be still running in the background as before, but the cover isn't updated anymore.

I tried Mitakuuluu but it gave me some problem with connections. With native Sailfish app I mean Official app made for Sailfish by the official company, if we will reach a good market share they will create a version for us.

I had to switch back to the Android version of Whatsapp, because Mitakuuluu used my battery away in less than a day. And I think this problem is not only related to Whatsapp but also all other Android apps.

Those bugs are fixed already. Connection bugs were fixed in the previous version of Mitakuuluu, the battery bug in the newest version available.

I don't have the mentioned problems with the OneNote and OneDrive Android apps btw.

I hope for an official, native version of whatsapp for SailfishOS. Mitakuuluu isn't an option for me: only one, capricious developer that don't want to disclose the code at all (I remember clearly the blackmail when the boy behind mitakuuluu wanted a jolla otherwise ceased development): at this point it's better to use the Android version that, notification system a part, works like a charm and it's officially supported.

If he doesn't want to disclose the code, then what code am I seeing on his GitHub? https://github.com/CODeRUS/mitakuuluu2

I use Mitakuuluu with joy every day. Don't wanna think about that crappy Android version at all. Native Mitakuuluu > Android WA IMHO.

I think the implementation of the Android multitasking only leaves the last active application running, the others covers are only screenshots (same behaviour than before, only the currently opened Android app was active, no ?). Is WhatsApp the last active Android application?

Yes, the Android apps only show a screenshot before going to background. This was the workaround to have multiple android apps on the homescreen. Before all android apps shared one tile. I'm not sure if the last app is getting updated on the homescreen. It should - but I can't confirm it. Anyway, this feature is marked as experimental in the release notes: https://together.jolla.com/question/50175/release-notes-software-version-10819-tahkalampi/
