Everytime my jolla is turned off I'm having serious difficulties turning it back on. I can turn it on by connecting charger to wall socket (charger in car does not work), but even then it takes random amounts of tries until it turns on. Using this method it takes about 5-10 minutes to get the phone running, up until that it just shows the jolla logo and flashes the red light. I've had this issue since the update in june and the first time it occured I had 78% battery when it didn't turn on.

There're three things that come to my mind:

  1. https://together.jolla.com/question/7144/jolla-randomly-shuts-down-10819/?answer=36965#post-id-36965
  2. https://together.jolla.com/question/30822/root-and-home-disks-full-and-causing-various-problems/
  3. Broken device, send it for repairs.

Numbers 1 and 2 happened to me. The paper trick actually helpes, as silly as it sounds. I've even tested it by taking the paper out, and I then keep experiencing the problems. This, sadly, seems to be a design flaw affecting some users, but not everyone...

Be careful with no.2, choose you check it out! Many have performed the operation(s) succesfully, including me, but try and take backups first! This is a "feature" of btrfs file system that Jolla uses, and we just have to live with that... Things get geeky very quickly, beware! If some/most applications behave oddly or don't start, this could be the cause.

What it comes to hardware health, please see http://linuxg.net/jolla-has-a-secret-tool-for-testing-the-devices-features/ for example on how to run hardware tests. Should any of the tests fail when it should not, the device needs to go for repair.

I have a lot of problems when booting my Jolla. This bug came with udate8. Looks that update8 is Jolla's version of Vista/Win8. Jolla has gone that bad that first time in my life I've looked new Windows Phone... really! Jolla has serious problems in basic features and I'm not happy at all. They are fixin those major usability bugs too slow. They don't really have any time to loose for holidays - there is no holdays if the core of the bussines is in huge problems! Customers just don't have a change to wait - we need working phone. I have had a huge problems after udate8. My phone drops from network, bluetooth just is total epic fail, battery runs out, now my phone is blinking "Connection error..." Really - this is a new phone and not even the basics work! ( Sorry about my frustration but I'm totally full of it...)

You could try to downgrade if update 8 is causing problems. Run "ssu re 1.0.7.16" and then "version --dup" on the Terminal app with developer mode enabled. Update 8 has worked fine for me.
